Wray is best known for its scarecrow festival, held over the late-April bank holiday, when hundreds of home-made figures pop up along the village streets and draw crowds from all over. The rest of the year it’s a quiet former silk-weaving village in the lower Lune valley, good for riverside walks. Wennington station is under 3km to the north-east.
