The River Lune makes a great double loop here near Caton, and the Crook o’ Lune has drawn admirers since Turner painted the view. There’s a picnic area up above the bends and easy walking along the old railway path towards Lancaster, with the fells rising beyond. Free and open all year; Lancaster station is about 5km down the valley if you fancy the walk in.
