Leighton Hall is a striking house with a Gothic Revival front, added in the 1820s by Richard Gillow of the Lancaster furniture-making family, set in parkland near Carnforth. For many the gardens are the real draw, with deep herbaceous borders, a walled garden and woodland walks around the grounds. It opens seasonally with an admission charge, so check ahead before you go. Carnforth station is very close, just to the north-west.
