In 1933 people from Ingleton, among them miners from the New Ingleton Colliery, dug out a swimming pool for the village, and it opened to the public the following year. The pool is a modest 20 metres, open-air and heated, and everyone involved in running it today is a volunteer, working for a small local charity. Heated swimming runs from late May to mid-September; after that the pool opens on weekend mornings for cold-water swims. Booking online is the safest bet, though walk-ups get in if there’s space. There is no parking at the pool itself, and the nearest car park is at the Community Centre. The Ingleton Waterfalls Trail starts close by, so a swim after the walk is easy to arrange.
