The Norber Erratics are a scatter of dark Silurian boulders sitting up on pale limestone above Austwick, carried here and dropped by melting glaciers. Some perch on little pedestals, where the softer limestone around them has weathered down while the rock underneath stayed sheltered — a textbook bit of glacial geology. It’s a free walk up from the village on open access land; the ground is rough and boggy in places, so boots are wise. Clapham and its caves are just to the west.
