Clapham is a neat village of cottages set either side of a tree-lined beck, with waterfalls tumbling through the middle. It’s the usual way in to Ingleborough Cave and, higher up, the vast Gaping Gill pothole — a walk that starts through the grounds of Ingleborough Hall. The village has its own station on the Leeds–Morecambe line, and Austwick is the next village east.
