If you like a bit of canal life, Audlem is a good stop. This border village sits at the foot of a flight of fifteen Telford locks that lift the Shropshire Union Canal up out of the Weaver valley, and the canalside Shroppie Fly pub is the spot to sit and watch the boats work their way through. It’s a genuine working village rather than a museum piece. Wrenbury station is the nearest, about 7km away.
