St Mary's Church (Nantwich)
Often called the cathedral of south Cheshire, St Mary’s at Nantwich is a big, richly built church begun around 1340. Look up in the chancel for the stone lierne vault studded with nearly seventy carved bosses, then check the choir stalls for a set of 15th-century misericords carved with dragons, a unicorn and Saint George. Usually open, and only a short walk from Nantwich station.
