Queen’s Park opened in 1888, a gift from the London & North Western Railway to mark Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee and fifty years since the Grand Junction Railway reached Crewe. Engineer F.W. Webb and garden designer Edward Kemp laid out the oval park around a boating lake, with a clock tower and a Boer War memorial at its centre. Free to walk round any time, with crazy golf and a lakeside café in summer. Crewe Station is about 2.5km east, and Nantwich a bit further southwest.
