Bunbury is a well-kept village in south Cheshire with two things worth the trip: a large medieval collegiate church, unusually grand for a village of this size, and Bunbury Locks on the Shropshire Union Canal, where a staircase of locks sits beside an old canal boatyard. Nantwich station is about 10km off, so it’s easiest reached by car — or, fittingly, by boat.
