Tarporley is one of Cheshire’s nicest large villages for a mooch — a long Georgian and Victorian high street lined with independent shops, delis, cafes and old coaching inns like the Swan. It sits handily between Chester and the sandstone-ridge walking around Beeston. There’s no station in the village; Delamere is the nearest at about 8km, so most people arrive by car.
