Rebuilt in the Decorated style around 1320 and made a collegiate church in the 1380s by the soldier Sir Hugh Calveley, St Boniface’s is one of the grandest medieval churches in Cheshire. Calveley’s alabaster tomb lies in the chancel, alongside that of Sir George Beeston, who commanded a ship against the Spanish Armada. It stands in the middle of Bunbury, handy for a pint afterwards at The Dysart Arms.
