The Midland Hotel is Morecambe’s art-deco showpiece, a sweeping white curve built for the railway in 1933 to the designs of Oliver Hill. Eric Gill carved the two seahorses over the entrance and the Neptune medallion on the spiral stair inside. After years of decline it was restored in the 2000s and reopened, so you can wander in for a coffee or a meal and take in the sea-facing frontage. Morecambe station is close by.
