The RSPB centre at Loch Garten, in the old pinewoods of Abernethy Forest near Boat of Garten, made its name with nesting ospreys — there are live nest cameras when the birds are in from spring to late summer. Feeders around the centre pull in crested tits and red squirrels too. It opens seasonally and is ticketed, so check the dates before setting out.
