Right by the station at Boat of Garten, the Boat Hotel’s bar makes the most of its spot beside the Strathspey steam railway, with a wide malt whisky range and real ale to hand. It’s a comfortable base in the northern Cairngorms, close to the ospreys at Loch Garten. Time it for a steam train pulling in and you’ve got a lovely little scene from the bar.
