Strathspey Steam Railway
Local highlightThe Strathspey Steam Railway runs restored steam trains the ten miles between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill, all done up in 1950s style. It leaves from its own platform alongside Aviemore’s mainline station, and the trundle down the Spey valley makes an easy, cheery couple of hours. It runs to a seasonal timetable, so check the days before you turn up.
