The Cairn is Gordon & MacPhail’s big new distillery at Grantown-on-Spey, a striking modern building in the Cairngorms with tours, tastings and a café called The Gathering. It’s set up as a full day-visit rather than a quick nip round, and you don’t need to be a whisky buff to enjoy the place. Tour tickets are best booked ahead.
