The Sun Inn stands near the arched bridge at Pooley Bridge, at the quieter northern foot of Ullswater. An old village inn with a beer garden, it’s an easy base for the Ullswater Steamers, which call at the pier just down the road, or for the low walk round Gowbarrow to Aira Force. Penrith station is about 7km north-east.
