Ullswater 'Steamers'
Local highlightThe Ullswater “Steamers” are a small fleet of heritage passenger boats that have plied the lake for well over a century — one of them, the Lady of the Lake, dates back to the 1870s. They run between Glenridding, Howtown and Pooley Bridge, and a favourite outing is to sail one way and walk back along the lakeshore path. Boats run year-round but far less often in winter, so check sailings before you set out.
