This is the open fellside above Ullswater where Wordsworth saw his “host of golden daffodils” — they still come up along the shore each spring. Gowbarrow Park is a former deer park, and a good circular walk climbs from the Aira Force car park up onto the fell for wide views over the lake. It’s open access, but the going is grassy and uneven higher up, so decent footwear helps. Glenridding is a short drive round the lake.
