The Blue Anchor is a thatched, Grade II* listed inn at East Aberthaw, reputedly dating from 1380, though Cadw puts the surviving building at the 16th century. A fire destroyed the roof in 2004 and the family who have run it for decades restored it, resetting the old beams. Real ale and food in a warren of low rooms. Rhoose station is under 3km to the east.
