Edwardian gardens laid out around Dyffryn House near St Nicholas, the work of designer Thomas Mawson and the horticulturist Reginald Cory, whose family paid for the plant-hunting trips that stocked them. The grounds are a run of outdoor “rooms” — lawns, a Pompeian garden, ponds, an arboretum — and Cadw rates them the finest Edwardian garden in Wales. Now National Trust; admission charged. Cadoxton station is about 5km away.
