St Fagans National Museum of History
Local highlightBritain’s first national open-air museum, opened in 1948 in the grounds of St Fagans Castle, a late-16th-century manor with terraced Italianate gardens and fishponds. More than forty historic buildings — farmhouses, a chapel, a row of ironworkers’ cottages — have been dismantled from across Wales and rebuilt here to walk through. Free to enter. Fairwater station is the nearest, about 3km east.
