The classic Victorian Cardiff park, opened in 1894, with a long boating lake, botanic beds and a white lighthouse clock tower at the water’s edge. The lighthouse went up in 1915 to remember Captain Scott, whose Terra Nova had sailed for the Antarctic from Cardiff docks; a model of the ship sits inside. Free and open all year. Heath Low Level station is about a kilometre to the north-west.
