The common on top of Caerphilly Mountain is the ridge that walkers and cyclists climb out of Cardiff before dropping to Caerphilly and its castle on the far side. Open grassland gives long views north over the town and south towards the city and coast. A well-known roadside snack bar has fed the summit’s cyclists for decades. Caerphilly station is about a kilometre down the northern slope.
