A secluded hilltop pub on Caerphilly Mountain, the Black Cock draws walkers, cyclists and horse riders up from the lanes between Cardiff and Caerphilly. Open fire inside, a couple of gardens with a play area out the back, and a few changing ales alongside Wye Valley Butty Bach. Caerphilly station is a little over 2km down the north side.
