Come in late spring, when the rhododendrons and azaleas are out. This is a long, wooded valley garden on Cardiff’s northern edge, planted in the early 20th century and now run wild in the best way, with a stream and winding paths under the trees. Free to visit, and unusually handy for the train: Lisvane & Thornhill station is barely 600 metres away.
