Home to the Coniston Brewing Co and its Bluebird ales, the Black Bull is a whitewashed inn of around 400 years standing in the middle of Coniston. The beer is brewed on site, so it doesn’t travel far to reach your glass. Food is served all day, and it’s a natural base for the Old Man of Coniston. Windermere is the nearest railhead, a bus ride to the east.
