Just outside Coniston at Bowmanstead, the Ship is a quiet low-beamed local under the Old Man. It sits away from the village bustle, a calm spot for a pint after a day on the fell, with food and a beer garden. The Old Man path and the Coppermines Valley start nearby. Windermere is the distant railhead to the east.
