Towneley Park is Burnley’s big green backyard — some 440 acres of woodland, lawns and lakes wrapped around Towneley Hall. The Grade I hall is now the town’s museum and art gallery, free to visit, and there’s a Local Nature Reserve down at the Deer Pond. It’s just south-east of the centre, near St Peter’s church, and all free to walk. Burnley Manchester Road station is about 2km to the north-west.
