Margam wraps a lot into one estate: a Tudor-Gothic mansion built by the Talbots in the early 1800s, the ruined twelve-sided chapter house of Margam Abbey, and a vast orangery of 1793 by Anthony Keck, said in its day to be longer than any other in Britain. A large herd of fallow, red and rare Père David’s deer grazes the parkland. Pyle station is about 4km south; open to visitors.
