Evelyn Waugh spent long stretches of the 1920s and 30s at Madresfield, and the moated Tudor manor he fell for became the model for Brideshead Revisited. The Lygon family have lived here for around 900 years, and the house holds an Arts and Crafts library and a walled garden with a Pulhamite rock garden. It opens only for guided tours, Wednesday to Friday from late April to June, booked online in advance; gardens can be explored before or after. Great Malvern Priory is a short drive west.
