Great Malvern climbs the steep eastern flank of the hills, a Victorian spa town that grew up around its springs. Its 1862 station by E. W. Elmslie is worth arriving at, the cast-iron columns capped with capitals of painted flowers and foliage in a dozen colours. Great Malvern Priory keeps its medieval glass, and above the town St Ann’s Well still runs Malvern water on the wooded slope below Worcestershire Beacon.
