Buscot Park’s set-piece is the Italianate water garden Harold Peto designed in 1904 for the first Lord Faringdon: a narrow canal stepping down through rills and little cascades between clipped box, crossed by a hump-backed bridge. The house holds the Faringdon Collection of paintings, Burne-Jones’s Briar Rose series among them. National Trust, though still lived in and run by the Faringdon family. Paid entry, near Faringdon.
