William Morris, living four miles off at Kelmscott, campaigned to save this small medieval church by the upper Thames from heavy-handed Victorian restoration — and it survives much as it was, with box pews and wall paintings layered one over another across the centuries. The Churches Conservation Trust looks after it now and keeps it open, a good pause for Thames Path walkers.
