Isle of Bute Distillery makes its gin on a traditional copper still in the middle of Rothesay, at 65 High Street, where there’s a shop to buy from. The botanicals come from the island — gorse and heather among them — and they’re proud of an oyster gin they bill as a world first. Bute is an easy CalMac crossing from Wemyss Bay, itself the end of a train line down from Glasgow.
