Ettrick Bay is the biggest and most popular beach on Bute, a wide flat sweep of sand on the island’s west coast at the end of the B875. Being shallow and gently shelving, it’s good for kids and paddling, and there’s a well-loved tearoom right behind the beach for when you need warming up. Bute is reached by the short CalMac ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay.
