Chapel Down is England’s best-known wine producer, based at Small Hythe near Tenterden. It’s well set up for visitors, with a cellar door, a restaurant and a walk through the vineyard, and its sparkling wines are widely poured. Book ahead for tours. Appledore station is about 8km to the east.
