A tiny Tudor chapel standing almost alone in fields near Launde, Withcote was built in the 1530s as the private chapel to Withcote Hall. Its treasure is the stained glass of that date, a rare survival of pre-Reformation work attributed to Galyon Hone, Henry VIII’s King’s Glazier. The Churches Conservation Trust now looks after it, and it stays open to visitors. Oakham station is about 7km to the north-east.
