Built in 1809, Whissendine Windmill is a tall ironstone tower mill above the village, one of very few 19th-century windmills in England still milling. It stood idle after gale damage in the 1920s until Nigel Moon bought and restored it from 1995, and by 2009 it was grinding on wind power again. Four pairs of stones turn out organic stoneground flour, sold at the mill, and visitors are welcome when the sails are working.
