This quiet Fylde church at Woodplumpton is best known for what lies in its churchyard — the reputed grave of Meg Shelton, a local woman said to be a witch. Legend has it she was buried head-down to stop her escaping, and a heavy boulder was rolled over the spot to keep her there; the stone is still in place today. St Anne’s is open to visitors during the day, with Salwick station about 5km to the south-west.
