There’s been a church at St Michael’s on Wyre since Anglo-Saxon times - a foundation traditionally dated before 640 AD - and the present St Michael’s, with its medieval tower and old wall paintings, still stands by the river. It’s a quiet, low-lying Fylde village strung along the Wyre, with a pub and not much fuss. Salwick station is about 9km to the south.
