Tynemouth Long Sands is a broad sweep of golden beach below the terraces of Tynemouth, a favourite with surfers and families after rock pools at low tide. There’s a tidal pool at the northern end and cafés and a surf school along the front. It’s open access and free, with lifeguards in the summer season. The View up on the bank lives up to its name for a drink after a walk.
