Pakenham calls itself the village of two mills — reputedly the only parish in Britain with both a working watermill and a working windmill. This is the water one: an 18th-century mill on the Black Bourn, on a site that was milling in Domesday times, and the last working watermill in Suffolk. It still grinds wholemeal flour on milling days, with a tearoom by the pond. The windmill stands about a mile off across the fields. Thurston station is roughly 5km south-west.
