Thomason Foss drops into a deep, dark plunge pool in woodland on Eller Beck, between Goathland and the hamlet of Beck Hole. The walk in from Beck Hole is short, but the final scramble down to the pool is steep, rooty and often slippery, so it’s not one for the unsteady. It’s a popular paddling and wild-swimming spot in summer. Grosmont station is about 3km north — or ride the moors railway up to Goathland and walk from there.
