Row of coloured houses round Mull harbour.
Tobermory is Mull’s main town and its picture on every postcard: a curving row of harbour-front houses painted in bright colours. It was laid out in 1788 as a planned fishing port by the British Fisheries Society, and the coloured buildings later found fame as the setting for the children’s show Balamory. There’s a distillery on the harbour too. You reach Mull by ferry from Oban to Craignure, then it’s about 40 minutes north on the B8073.
