Staffin is a crofting township strung along the north-east coast of Trotternish, and the handiest base for the Quiraing — the extraordinary landslip ridge just inland — and for Kilt Rock, a sea cliff with a waterfall that drops straight into the sea. Dinosaur footprints turn up on the beach at low tide. It’s on the A855 coast road, north of Portree.
