A large wood-fired Scandinavian sauna at Staffin Harbour on Skye, looking to Flodigarry Island and, on clear days, Harris and Lewis

Skye’s first Scandinavian-style sea sauna stands by the slipway at Staffin Harbour, on the island’s north-east coast. The stove burns wood and the site runs on solar power, so evening sessions are candlelit. Up to eight share a social session, and ten can book it privately. Between rounds, dip in the sheltered water a stone’s throw from the door or use the spring-water shower.
