Flora MacDonald, who helped Bonnie Prince Charlie escape the Hebrides in 1746, is buried at Kilmuir in Trotternish, her grave marked by a tall Celtic cross set high above the Minch. The churchyard is open by the roadside on the A855, with the Skye Museum of Island Life just alongside.
