Flora MacDonald, who helped Bonnie Prince Charlie escape after Culloden, lived in a cottage at Flodigarry after her marriage in 1750, and the cottage still stands in the grounds of the local hotel. The scattered settlement sits on the Trotternish coast below the strange rock pinnacles of the Quiraing, reached by the A855. It makes a good base for walking up onto the ridge above.
